City of Conyers Councilwoman Valyncia Smith invites residents of the city and Rockdale County to join her in working to make it a warmer winter for those in need.
Smith has joined forces with Lowe’s and Rockdale Women United to collect and distribute new or gently-used winter coats during the months of November and December.
“This coat drive is not only a way for the community to help others in need of a coat, but it is to also show that we are still united—no matter the times we live in,” Smith said. “I challenge all elected officials, leaders, and even everyday residents to take the initiative to helping others this winter stay warm.”
Donated coats should be clean, with zippers and fasteners present and in good working condition.
Collection will begin on Nov. 16 through Dec. 19.
Donors can drop off coats at Lowe’s Home Improvement store 1901 Hwy 138, Conyers, Monday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Coats will be distributed on Saturday, Dec. 19. All donations will be distributed to residents of Conyers and Rockdale County.
