BATAVIA — There won’t be a weekend of vendors taking up a large space at Batavia Downs this November, but there are plans for a “Pop-Up Shop.”
Director of Marketing Ryan Hasenauer said there’s normally a giant vendor show in the second or third weekend in November, but not this year, because of COVID-19.
“One of the local groups, they organize this giant vendor show that takes up every space. It takes up the whole Park Place Room. Obviously, we can’t do that this year, given the restrictions,” he said. “What we’re doing is allowing one vendor per day to set up in the Park Place Room and you can go visit that vendor.
Hasenauer said there is no schedule yet, but vendors are calling about coming to Batavia Downs.
“It’s going to be an ongoing event. If you book time with us and you’re going to be in the Park Place Room, we’ll help promote the fact that you’re going to be selling whatever you’re selling, to help local businesses get exposure.,” he said.
“We’ll be posting it on our social pages soon, many are looking at weekend days but some weekdays as well,” he said Wednesday.
“The vendors who decide to take up space in the Park Place Room will be given ample room to allow for social distancing. Face coverings will be required and those wishing to visit the Park Place will need to have their temperature taken prior to entering, just like when they visit the gaming facility. The number of persons allowed into the Park Place Room will be limited to 50 persons at a time. This is why we will limit the number of vendors, to make it easier to stay within compliance.”
The Pop-Up shops will likely go right up until Christmas as many vendors will be selling items for the holiday season, Hasenauer said.
