MARTINSBURG — Trinity Episcopal Church honored God’s creation, all God’s creatures and the work of St. Francis of Assisi Oct. 4 with a pet blessing in the courtyard.
St. Francis of Assisi was a patron saint of animals and the environment. The church, at 200 W. King St. in Martinsburg, also offered virtual blessings of pets to those who provided photos. To help animals that do not have homes, the church is collecting donations for the Berkeley County Humane Society. The donations can be dropped off at the office.
Among the humane society’s needs are bleach; liquid laundry detergent; dish detergent; multipurpose cleaner; paper towels; trash bags (13, 30 and 39 gallon); treats for cats and dogs; towels; blankets; puppy training pads; dry kitten food (brown only); puppy food (brown only); dry cat and dog food (brown only); canned cat and dog food; and nonscoopable cat litter.
