Hope Temple Christian Church will give away food boxes from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church, 400 S. Woodlawn Ave.
Pastor Rob Brown said the church has between 25 and 30 boxes available, and they will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis to anyone in need.
“We see the need in the community, and we just want to do our part to make a difference in someone’s life,” Brown said.
The food boxes contain items such as cereal, canned goods, vegetables, meats, frozen meals, and snacks.
Church volunteers will bring the boxes to vehicles as they pull up outside the building. Those getting the boxes are asked to stay inside their vehicles.
The YMCA will distribute food for youth ages 18 and under from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. today at the Burlington YMCA.
The program, which has been hosted the past several Fridays, is aimed at supplementing weekend meals by providing breakfast and lunch options, as well as milk. Registration is not required, and children need not be present at the time of food pickup.
Those wanting to utilize the program are asked to pick up the meals in the circle drive in front of the building while remaining inside their vehicle. Volunteers will ask how many meals are needed before providing the food.
